Just one day after Vitality’s triumph at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen - one of Counter-Strike’s most decorated players - officially announced his retirement from professional play, delivering an emotional farewell on the Austin stage in front of thousands of fans.
A five-time Major winner and the only player in history to compete in all 19 CS:GO Majors, dupreeh’s career is one of unmatched consistency, longevity, and success. He played key roles in legendary rosters such as Team Dignitas, TSM, and most famously Astralis, where he won four Majors, including three consecutively between 2018 and 2019. His final Major title came with Team Vitality at the Paris Major in 2023.
Though he didn’t play in the starting five during Vitality’s Austin run, dupreeh was part of the team’s broader system and used the moment to mark the end of a storied career. The announcement was met with a standing ovation from the crowd, along with tributes from current pros, analysts, and longtime fans.
With 5 Major trophies, over a dozen Sβtier titles, and nearly a decade at the top, dupreeh retires as one of the true legends of CounterβStrike. His legacy will continue to shape the game long after his final bow.
