Dota 2 Patch 7.41e Arrives Alongside Massive Summer Scrub Update

Valve has released Dota 2 Patch 7.41e, bringing another round of balance changes just weeks before The International 2026.

But the balance patch is only part of today's update.

Valve has also launched Summer Scrub 2026, a large collection of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements and changes targeting dozens of problems throughout Dota 2.

With TI only around two weeks away, 7.41e could represent one of the final major adjustments to the competitive environment before the world's best teams meet in Shanghai.

57 Heroes Changed

Despite being a letter patch rather than a major numbered update, 7.41e touches a significant portion of the hero pool.

A total of 57 heroes have received changes, alongside modifications to numerous items, neutral items and general gameplay mechanics.

Several popular heroes have been toned down.

Drow Ranger has received reductions to Multishot's damage output alongside increased mana costs, while Shadow Fiend has lost base Intelligence and seen the duration of Shadowraze stacks reduced.

Bane, Clockwerk, Treant Protector, Snapfire and several other heroes have also been targeted.

At the same time, Valve has attempted to strengthen weaker options through a variety of buffs and adjustments.

Items and Map Mechanics Also Updated

The patch is not limited to heroes.

Abyssal Blade now provides additional Strength, while Butterfly has had its attribute and damage bonuses adjusted.

Several other items have received cost or balance changes.

Twin Gates have also been changed. Channeling a Twin Gate can now be interrupted by roots, adding another interaction for players to consider when attempting to escape or rotate across the map.

The Tormentor has received a mechanical adjustment as well, now disjointing incoming projectiles when moving between its two positions.

None of these individual changes completely reinvent Dota 2, but together they could significantly influence which heroes and strategies teams prioritize.

Summer Scrub Tackles Dota's Growing Bug List

Perhaps the larger update for everyday players is Summer Scrub.

Dota 2 is an extraordinarily complicated game, and years of interactions between heroes, abilities, items and new mechanics inevitably create unusual bugs.

Summer Scrub attempts to address a long list of them.

The update includes fixes affecting gameplay, cosmetics, Dota Plus, interface behavior and numerous ability interactions.

Some are obscure edge cases. Others address problems players encounter regularly.

The objective is straightforward: clean up as many lingering issues as possible before Dota's biggest tournament begins.

The TI Meta Gets One Final Shake-Up

Professional teams now have very little time to adapt.

The International begins in August, meaning players must determine which changes actually matter, which heroes have fallen out of favor and whether previously overlooked strategies have suddenly become viable.

Letter patches can sometimes have a larger competitive impact than their name suggests.

With dozens of heroes affected by 7.41e, the opening days of TI 2026 could look considerably different from the Dota played at the Esports World Cup earlier this month.
