JDC Interview: BIG’s Hometown Dream Ends in Cologne

BIG’s IEM Cologne Major run ended in the cruelest possible way: one match away from Stage 3, one step away from playing in front of the German crowd, and one series short of turning a dramatic campaign into a real breakthrough.

After the 1 - 2 loss to B8, JDC did not hide the disappointment. His message was clear: BIG expected to win that game. That is what makes the defeat hurt more. This was not a case of being outclassed by an untouchable favorite - it was a match BIG believed was within reach, especially after winning Ancient 13 - 7.

But the series flipped hard. B8 answered on Overpass, then closed the decider on Dust2 after BIG started strongly on CT side. For BIG, the result meant elimination from Stage 2. For B8, it meant completing a 0 - 2 to 3 - 2 recovery and taking the final Stage 3 spot.

The heartbreak also has context. BIG’s Cologne run was not empty. They produced one of the tournament’s wildest moments by coming back from 0 - 12 against NRG, showed resilience under pressure, and proved they could compete in a high-stakes Major environment.
